Three Chefs and one amazing meal at Tempo Urban Kitchen in Brea, California!
Upon walking through the doors of Tempo Urban Kitchen I felt as if I was transported to a completely different place. The vibe was funky, fun and made total sense given the tagline of this gastro delight is “March to Your Own Beat.”A display of beautiful bottles with a backdrop of what certainly is a fun bar is the first thing that we see. As we look around the roomy restaurant that is complete with privates tables and booths, a communal table and an outdoor patio we see an open kitchen concept, a private liquor cabinet where guests can house their private stash, a wall of wine and a highlight of Food Network Star Chef Chris Tzorin who is our tour guide for the evening.
Tempo Urban Kitchen is a farm-to-table dining experience in which painstaking care is taken to offer the freshest ingredients prepared in unique ways that are driven by the chefs rather than a cookie cutter formula.
This magic formula has been brought to us by Founder and CEO, Jorge Cueva who has a long history in the restaurant business having worked all aspects from busboy all the way to business owner. He is proof positive that dreams can come true. For Tempo Urban Kitchen his dream was to bring together the hottest cooking talent and allow them to shine with one of a kind dishes that allow the diner to delight in mouthwatering results. His dream has turned into a reality with Chef Chris Tzorin, Chef Charly Perez and Chef Salvador Carrillo Barron.
I had been looking forward to this night for weeks. I knew I would be in for a treat and certainly was not disappointed, nor was my plus one because you know the hubby was excited to be invited given how much he loves to try new foods.
The first treat of the evening was Tajin Rimmed Mango Margarita’s. The key ingredient in this unique drink was serrano infused tequila.
This was followed by Grilled Octopus with micro greens, lime crema, serrano sauce and chipotle mayo. It was cooked to perfection, tender, delicious and cooked to perfection by Chef Chris.
Chef Jorge was next to present his deconstructed taco creation. This was Korean inspired braised pork belly topped with red cabbage kimchi and accompanied by thinly sliced mango. The hubby was in heaven for this one. He LOVES pork belly.
Slow cooked short ribs topped with “vegan caviar” aka mustard seeds and served with pickled carrots wrapped in New York style serrano ham presented by Chef Sal was a big hit. Some could not decide what was better…the short ribs or the carrots wrapped in ham.
To top the festivities off we were treated to ginger infused ice cream prepared tableside with the help of liquid nitrogen, a Kitchen Aid and lots of hand cranking.
Chef Chris Tzorin will be opening the Tempo Anaheim Hills location and Chef Charly will be opening Tempo Valle de Guadalupe.
~Do note that I was invited to this private dinner event by Tempo Urban Kitchen and GigaSavvy. All opinions, and photographs, are my own. ~
